Learn the basics about wall builder mode and other features
Although this tutorial will walk you through how to create a room in RealityMAX, the principles apply to any kind of set up.
Set up scene
First, make sure that you are using the desired unit of measurement. You can set it by clicking the RealityMAX logo, clicking Settings and clicking the Unit menu to select inches, mm, cm, m or feet.
Add floor and walls
After that, you can start by adding a floor and a wall to start building the room's structure. Click the cube icon to add a floor, and click the wall icon to switch to the wall builder mode. Click on the scene to set the starting point of the wall. By holding the Shift key, you can unlock full 3D movement. Then move to where you want the wall to end and click again.
To make an intersection, place the cursor over where you want the next wall to start until it sticks to the first wall. Then click, move to where you want the new wall to end and click again.
If you want to resize the length of an open wall, place the cursor over its edge until it turns blue. Then click, extend or reduce the wall's length and click again.
When ready, use the ESC key or click the wall icon to exit wall builder mode. Transform the floor and the walls according to your required dimensions by selecting them and using their gizmos, or by entering precise values under the "Transformation" section in the right sidebar.
Edit textures
Following that, you can add textures to the objects. There are several ways to do so:
- Drag the texture file from your computer and drop into the object.
- Select the object, go to the "Materials" section in the right sidebar and upload the texture file by clicking the texture box.
- With the object selected, go to the "Materials" section and choose a texture from the materials library by clicking the open book icon.
Speaking of textures, we offer Smart Materials that adapt to the size of an object. They are useful for floors and walls since they maintain the tile's proportions regardless of their dimensions.
Add 3D models and images
Now that the room's structure is ready, you can start adding 3D models and images by clicking the + icon, and use basic shapes and premade assets from the cube icon and Library respectively.
In regards to uploading 3D models and images, you can check the file formats we support here.
Add effects
Before sharing your room, you may want to set up the environment of the scene. You can choose its background color, or use an HDRi or image. You can also add lights and effects such as bloom and reflections. Depending on the materials, using these effects will make them even more realistic.
Share scene
After finishing your room, you can share it by clicking Share preview.
